5 out of 5 stars Great and easy to use.   September 4, 2010
Paul D. Sullivan (Mass. USA)
Of all the things I have purchased at Amazon lately, this has been the most useful.
In the past two weeks I have used it to removed links and re-size ten watch bracelets in my collection, and each went without a hitch.

When using this you must remember a few things.

1.

Check the back of the links. There will be an arrow engraved in the back of the link
showing in which direction you should push out the link pin. The arrow should point away from
the turning knob when pushing out the pin.

2.

Work on a large, soft, white cloth. Such as an old T-shirt or terry cloth towel. If you
drop the link pin it won't bounce away and will be easy to find.

3.

Make sure area is well lit.

4.

Unless you have exceptional eyesight, invest in a cheap jeweler's loupe or if you wear glasses
an Optivisor so you can make sure your pushing directly against the link pin and not the side
of the link as you can easily break the push pin and mar the side of the bracelet link.

5.

If there are no arrows on the back of the link, then most likely the pins are of the screw
in type, and must be removed with a jeweler's screw driver.

6.

Take your time and align the push pin directly with the hole in the link.

7.

Use slow steady pressure when turning the knob.

The small sprung platform in front of the pusher pin is for adjusting the height of the link's
pusher pin with the hole in the link.

With a little practice you will be able to re-size any of you watch bracelets in minutes, and save a trip to the local jewelers and money to boot.

5 out of 5 stars Superb pin remover for a metal watch band!   August 24, 2010
John C. Lambropoulos (Rochester, NY, USA)
The pin remover works perfectly. It took me about 4-5 minutes to remove three links from a metal watch band. It worked perfectly. Make sure that you align the instrument pin accurately with the band pin, and simply screw in the instrument pin. Also make sure that you align the instrument pin with the side of the watch pin that is marked (usually with an arrow indicating the direction in which the pin is to be moved.) The base of the instrument (on which the band rests) is spring loaded so one can align easily and center the instrument pin on the band pin. Soon after I completed three link removals, I worked on another watch...just as perfectly.

Notice that the same instrument just as easily is used for re-inserting the pins in place after the required links have been removed.

Highly recommended, easiest to use.

I was barely able to re-install the link pin before the installation pin broke. I need to remove one more link but lack of instructions leave me with a useless tool. I should have done more research on tools of this type before I bought this.
There has to be a more "professional grade" pin removal tool out there (even if it costs more) . No watchmaker would be saddled with such a inadequate piece of equipment

Not good for wider bands, but great for quick fixes for the narrower ones. Worht the small investment. It saves a bundle on band repairs.

Works very well, and the price is reasonable. Comes with spare plunger heads, which is useful since the forces can easily break them if not aligned perfectly.
